October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The month of October is when we wear pink in order to bring awareness to the many women that are battling breast cancer. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, “Breast cancer is the second most common kind of cancer in women. About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point.” The numbers are staggering but there is hope. “The good news is that many women can survive breast cancer if it’s found and treated early. A mammogram – the screening test for breast cancer – can help find breast cancer early when it’s easier to treat.”

We here at United Iron & Metal are doing our part and bringing awareness and make a difference. We have changed our Social Media icons to the Pink Ribbon (a symbol of breast cancer awareness) and are featuring links of activities going on in Baltimore as well as research foundations you can donated to. Spread the word and help make a difference!
