The Big Ten Rules of Scrapping, Part 2
Are you new to scrapping and looking to get your toes wet in what we consider to be the coolest industry on planet earth as we know it? Are you a seasoned veteran who needs a brush-up on some of the rules of the scrap game?
Well, you’ve come to the right place: this article is for you.
Over the last 65 years of working in the scrap metal business, we’ve learned a thing or two and we’d like to share it with you, so without further ado, here are the BIG TEN RULES OF SCRAPPING, Part 2.
6. KNOW YOUR METALS.
Our website, www.scrapuim.com has photos that show examples of and describe different metals that we accept as scrap. Check out these blog posts of ours to learn how to differentiate metals by sight and with the use of a magnet.
7. GET ORGANIZED.
The importance of knowing your metals is priceless. Bringing them to the yard presorted not only will earn you more money, because certain metals pay more than others – but it also makes our job easier and gets everyone home sooner.
8. BRING PROPER IDENTIFICATION TO THE YARD.
If you’re new to scrapping, Maryland State Law requires you to produce a valid government-issued identification card before we can pay you for your scrap.
9. BE ETHICAL.
To keep the industry honest and accountable, we have to ask for ID – do your part and make sure that all metal that you bring in is your own property. Avoid yards that don’t respect the integrity of the industry.
10. HAVE FUN.
Scrap Metal is a lifestyle for us – we live it, we breathe it, we love it. Remember to have fun along the way and rest easy knowing you’re doing your part to save the environment by recycling your metals responsibly with us.
